There is a new destination at Lake Martin – SpringHouse restaurant designed by Dungan & Nequette Architects of Birmingham for Russell Lands. That it looks more like a collection of farm buildings is no accident.

BJCC Arena Club

The new Arena Club designed by Davis Architects for Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Center (BJCC) was triggered by an ADA lawsuit requiring handicap access to the ground floor of the coliseum. “We discovered the only way to get wheelchair accessibility was through the cavernous space under the arena,” says Don Cosper of Davis Architects.

Moundville Museum

The Jones Museum at Moundville Archeological Park, a University of Alabama-operated site, has reopened after a $5 million renovation and expansion. The 5,000-square-foot, 1939 building constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps was virtually rebuilt inside. TurnerBatson Architects of Birmingham also designed two wings and new exterior spaces that open at the rear to Moundville’s central plaza and largest mounds.
